This week, our Facebook feeds are crowded with first-day-of-school photos. There they are – our friends’ kids or grandkids – resplendent in new outfits, heading off to Kindergarten, elementary, even high school.
Wouldn’t it be great to see pictures of retirees marching off to class, too?
There are a myriad of continuing education opportunities for adults of all ages. Retirement is the perfect time to take advantage of them.
You can dust off your lunchbox and take it to the local college to audit classes (no homework!) or stay in your pajamas to study online.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, one of our favorites, has programs at over 100 universities with curriculums designed to meet the needs of older learners.
While the courses are different from campus to campus, “the common threads remain: non-credit educational programs specifically developed for seasoned adults who are aged 50 and older; university connection and university support; and a diverse repertoire of intellectually stimulating courses,” (OLLI website).
Why should kids have all the back-to-school fun? Check out the educational opportunities in your hometown and enroll. And, be sure to post a picture of your first day!
