Retirement goals: A moving target

You know what they say about change: It’s the only real constant in life. And, so it is with retirement.

You may be sitting at your desk today looking at a retirement date of January 1, 2017, and have totally different goals and dreams than you might have on January 1, 2018.

The first year of retirement is critical. It’s a time to explore and experiment, to visit places unseen and try new experiences on for size. The Fit-To-Retire program is designed to make your transition to retirement – especially in that first year – as smooth as possible.

But, it doesn’t end there.

Yes, our readiness assessment will tell you how prepared and enthusiastic you are about retirement in five key areas: Self-Identity, Social, Health & Nutrition, Personal Relationships and Financial. And, our comprehensive Pre-Retirement Checklist will help you get all your ducks in a row before that golden retirement date. Your 100-Day Playbook suggests activities and goals in each of the five areas, such as reconnecting with college friends, hiring a personal trainer or auditing a class at the local college. You’ll feel equipped and confident to hit the ground running – if you want to – on Day 1.

And, that’s just the beginning.

Working with your Fit-To-Retire coach, you can review your status year after year and make adjustments, as warranted. Let’s say you decide to put your house up for sale and move closer to the grandkids or start a small business in your neighborhood. That’s when your coach can be a huge asset by offering financial solutions and recommending other relevant professionals to assist – realtors, bankers, commercial insurance agents. Suddenly, you have a whole team of support players ready to help when your retirement plans change course.

Because, as we know from experience, they probably will.
