Thanksgiving and Retirement: Success is in the planning

We do a lot of planning for readiness at Fit-to-Retire. And, when we’re not planning, we’re thinking about planning. Yet, too many people spend more time planning their Thanksgiving meal than they do their retirement years. Let’s consider that analogy for a minute. A fulfilling Thanksgiving will score high in all five areas of success addressed in the Fit-to-Retire program:  Personal relationships (Why not bury the hatchet and invite wacky Uncle Dale?), Health & Nutrition (Note to self: Buy gluten-free rolls for Aunt Dee), Social (Cocktails, one hour or two?), Self-Identity (Am I a head-of-the-table carver or a behind-the-scenes slicer?) and Financial (If a fresh 22-pound turkey costs $1.99 per pound, how many sandwiches can be made with the leftovers?)  Okay, that’s a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea.  For a successful Thanksgiving gathering, you need to be prepared and enthusiastic. In the absence of readiness, chaos, discord and disappointment ensue. And there’s no telling what that wacky Uncle Dale might do.

On a serious note, we’d like to express our gratitude for our growing Fit-to-Retire family of advisers, their support teams and clients. Here’s heartfelt wishes for a peaceful and prosperous holiday season.  Happy Thanksgiving to all!
