How a class act takes his final bow

Here’s a great spin from Forbes on David Letterman’s retirement in the form of an insightful top ten list.  It makes good, practical points about the right way to retire. For example: ‘Give your employer sufficient notice’ and ‘Be generous with thanks.’

It’s important not to burn bridges, in general, but especially at retirement. Acknowledging and thanking your colleagues, above and below you on the corporate ladder, will ensure your legacy is held in high esteem. And, it will project you into your next phase with a positive, grateful attitude.

Nobody likes goodbyes. But, if you’re gracious as you head for the exit, folks you leave behind will say “There goes a class act” and not “I thought he’d never leave!”
